Wait List Reasons Window

If a patient cannot get an appointment on the day they need/want, you can place them on a wait list. A wait list contains a series of patients that would prefer an earlier appointment than the one they currently have booked. When an appointment is cancelled, a scheduling clerk can fill the open space from the wait list.

Wait list reasons help order and prioritize the wait list. Priority is used to indicate the urgency of the request. If a wait listed patient has an urgent need, they are prioritized ahead of someone merely inconvenienced by their appointment’s date.

Depending on the reason, a patient may be removed from the wait list once the date is close to their actual appointment date.

Example: A patient scheduled for a screening appointment booked three months prior is unlikely to rearrange their schedule to come in four days earlier. However, a patient who is in pain can often come in on very short notice and will gladly come in even one day earlier.

The Wait List Reasons window allows you to manage the list of wait list reasons and indicate the priority of the reason.
