Kit Type Codes Window

A kit type serves as a description of the kit you will put together and make available to providers.

Examples: Amalgam, Bone Graft Fixation Kit, Bond/band Kit, BASIC, etc.

Kit types are configured to require individual bar codes for each instrument kit or configured to use a set generic bar code that applies to all instrument kits of the type.

The Kit Type Codes window allows you to create and manage the list of kit types used in the Dispensary module.

Field Description
Code

A text field that indicates the code that identifies the kit type.
Inactive

A check box that, when selected, indicates the field is inactive and not in use.
Description

A text field that describes the kit type.
Cost (for replacement)

The purchase price / replacement cost of this kit type.

Important: This is the value of the case and does not include the contents.

Default Sterilization (in days)

The default number of days that this kit type remains sterile.

If a kit has not been checked out or sterilized within this number of days, it is considered expired and must be re-sterilized.

Note: If you modify this field, it takes effect the next time the kit type is sterilized.

Individual kits have bar codes on them

A check box that, when selected, indicates that each kit with this kit type will have an individual bar code to distinguish it from other kits with the same kit type.

Note: If deselected, axiUm requires outer bar code labels to track dirty and clean dispensary items.
Bar Code

A text field that stores the generic bar code for this kit type.

Note: This field is only enabled if the Individual kits have bar codes on them check box is deselected.

Task Procedure
Add Kit Type Codes
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the fields as necessary and click the Add a new Record () icon.

Edit Kit Type Codes

  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Make any necessary changes and click the Modify Record () icon.
Manage Kit Item Templates
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Kit Item Template () icon to display the Kit Item Templates window.
  2. Make any necessary changes and click the Modify Record () icon.
Delete Kit Type Codes
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Delete Record () icon.
  2. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
Preview/Print Report
  1. (Optional) To preview the Kit Types report, click the Preview Report () icon.
  2. To print the Kit Types report, click the Print Report () icon.

    3. Note: The Kit Types report uses the kittype.rpt file.

Kit Item Templates Window

(Maintenance > Dispensary > Kit Types)

A kit item template is a list of the items that accompany a kit type. You can create a kit item template for each kit type as necessary.

Important: When an instrument kit is created and has a kit type added, the kit type’s template auto-populates the instrument kit with all the items that are present in the kit item template. If you update a template to add/remove instruments, you are prompted to update all kits that use that template.

The Kit Item Templates window allows you to create and manage the kit templates for use in the Dispensary module. It displays when you open the Kit Type Codes window, select a kit type and click the Kit Item Templates () icon.

Field Description
Kit Type

A disabled field that indicates the selected kit type.
Instrument

A text field that indicates the instrument in the kit type.

The ellipsis is used to display the Instrument Codes window and select an instrument code.
Quantity in Kit

A text field that indicates the number of instruments of this type to include in the kit template.
Task Procedure
Add Items to Template
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the fields as necessary and click the Add a new Record () icon.
