Product Types Window

The Product Types window allows you to create and manage the list of product types used at your institution. The product types will then be broken down further into product categories.

Field Description
Description

A text field that describes the product type.
Task Procedure
Add Product Types
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the field as necessary and click the Add a new Record () icon.
Configure Product Categories
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Click the Product Categories () icon to display the Product Categories window.
  3. Configure categories as necessary.
Edit Product Types
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Make any necessary change and click the Modify Record () icon.
Delete Product Types
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Delete Record () icon.
  2. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.

    3. Note: A product type that contains categories cannot be deleted.
Preview/Print Report
  1. (Optional) To preview the Product Types report, click the Preview Report () icon.
  2. To print the Product Types report, click the Print Report () icon.

    3. Note: The Product Types report uses the PrdType.rpt file.

Product Categories Window

(Maintenance > Inventory > Product Types)

The Product Categories window allows you to create and manage the list of product categories, to further classify product types. It displays when you open the Product Types window, select a listed type and click the Product Categories () icon.

Field Description
Type

A disabled field that indicates the Product Type that these categories apply to.
Code

A text field that indicates the code that identifies the category.
Inactive

A check box that, when selected, indicates the field is inactive and not in use.
Description

A text field that describes the category.
Task Procedure
Add Product Categories
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the fields as necessary and click the Add a new Record () icon.
Edit Product Categories
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Make any necessary changes and click the Modify Record () icon.
Delete Product Categories
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Delete Record () icon.
  2. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
