Service Type Codes Window

Service type codes are codes used by US medical insurance companies. These are only needed if producing medical insurance claim forms.

Service type codes define different services like Medicare, Pennsylvania Medicaid, and HMO.

In the Procedure Code window, a type of service can be specified, which will print the code in the claim form Type of Service box when this procedure is performed.

The Service Type Codes window allows you to manage the list of service type codes and specify procedure code ranges to further define the type of service.

Field Description
Code

A text field that indicates the unique code that identifies the service type.
Description

A text field that describes the service type.
NEIC

A check box that, when selected, indicates the service type code is recognized by NEIC (National Electronic Information Corporation), and is therefore recognized by Change Healthcare.
Task Procedure
Add Service Type Codes
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the fields as necessary and click the Add a new Record () icon.
Specify Type of Service Definitions
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Type of Service Definitions () icon to display the Type of Service Definitions window.
  2. Manage the list of definitions as necessary.

Edit Service Type Codes
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Make any necessary changes and click the Modify Record () icon.
Delete Service Type Codes
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Delete Record () icon.
  2. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
Preview/Print Report
  1. (Optional) To preview the Service Type Codes report, click the Preview Report () icon.
  2. To print the Service Type Codes report, click the Print Report () icon.

    3. Note: The Service Type Codes report uses the service.rpt file.

Type of Service Definitions Window

(Maintenance > Insurance > Service Type Codes)

The Type of Service Definitions window allows you to further define the service type by adding a range of procedures. It displays when you open the Service Type Codes window, select a listed code and click the Type of Service Definitions () icon.

Field Description
Service

A disabled field that indicates the service type code.
Procedure From / Procedure To

The first and last procedures to represent the range of procedures apply to this service type.

The ellipses are used to display the Procedure Code List window and select procedure codes.

Type A text field that indicates the 2-character service type ID to use when treatments within the ranges specified are performed.
Task Procedure
Add Type of Service Definitions
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the fields as necessary and click the Add a new Record () icon.
Edit Type of Service Definitions
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Make any necessary changes and click the Modify Record () icon.
Delete Type of Service Definitions
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Delete Record () icon.

  2. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
